Laurie Berkner’s 18th album, Walking With The Penguins, is Laurie’s first album in five years to be filled with new songs not featured on her previous albums. “Penguins kicks off with the title track, a lively tune that will easily get little ones waddling humorously around the room. The album is well stocked with highly interactive movement tunes, which frequently also hold an added purpose. “Put It In the Bag,” for example, delivers a fun message about cleaning up and “Four Season” lets youngsters act out the four seasons. “My Bunny Goes Hop” is a dancing song that takes a look at animals, while “Let’s Make A Shape” offers a lesson in geometric figures.”
“Some other songs, however, are just fun ditties (like “String Cheese” and “Roller Coast”) and find Berkner slowing down the tempo for more thought-provoking songs (“I’m Curious,” “I’m Proud,” and “Hello River”).”
