ABCmouse Mastering Math is an innovative, game-based adaptive early learning app (for iOS and Android devices) that helps preschool through 2nd grade students build a strong understanding of number sense and operations. The concepts and skills covered serve as building blocks for the development of quantitative thinking, which is critical for success in elementary school and beyond.
Featuring 30 fully adaptive games and more than 130 activities, Mastering Math covers counting, numeral identification, place value, addition and subtraction operations, and more. Consistent with good assessment practices, every game is designed with a clear learning objective, learning task, and evidence in mind; and each learning objective is supported by an interactive instruction level, plus several layers of scaffolding and feedback.
This adaptive learning platform recommends and customizes learning games to deliver an individualized learning path to each child. Using data from a child’s interaction, the system adapts the sequence of activities, and even adapts within each activity, to optimize each child’s learning. Principles from the learning sciences, as well as educational data mining, inform all aspects of the system’s design to ensure a high-quality, rigorous, and effective learning experience.
