Grin Brigade is back with their second eclectic and unpredictable mix of 29 (not a typo!) songs. All I Do is Hop is a blend of kid funk, blues, pop, rock, country, anthem and ballad by a revolving group of top flight singers, musicians and songwriters, this wild jumble of tunes about a whole mess of things will make you happy, make you think, make you feel and make you laugh.
From our NAPPA Awards music judge:
“It’s hard to imagine a busier children’s artist than Dave Kinnoin. You may know the award-winning musician from his solo albums or as the Dave in Randy & Dave (his duo with Randy Sharp). Kinnoin also is the mastermind behind the Grin Brigade project, writing or co-writing all 29 tunes on All I Do Is Hop; however, he enlists around ten different vocalists to sing lead, and this concept works wonderfully. While hopping between various musical styles and singers, the CD creates an energetic eclecticism for listeners to enjoy. There are comical ditties (like the country rocker “Mr. Ticklebone”) and message songs (such as the bilingual “Mi Pelota”). In “High-Paying Job,” a kid voices his money concerns, while children are just looking for fun in “Halloween Party Tonight.” All I Do also contains amusing educational numbers, like the “Dog Alphabet Song,” the counting tune “One Fuzzy Caterpillar,” and “Otter Facts,” which is about…well, you get the idea. With 29 tracks, everyone will find one favorite – at least. Mine is “I Don’t Think So,” a classic Kinnoin tune that is both a funny consumer society satire and a lesson in protecting your personal information. Additionally, the CD booklet includes the songs’ lyrics and chords. Boasting a terrific diversity of songs and singers, this excellent album is like its own mixtape!”
