You can make music anywhere, whether you are all cooped up or playing outside with your friends and pets. This new album, “An A Cappella Family,” by Steve Pullara And His Cool Beans Band is a wonderful set of songs and sounds created without using any instruments. That is what we call a cappella singing. We invite you to sing along, clap, thump, and make music with Steve and his band!
Evaluation comments from our NAPPA Awards Music Judge:
“Steve Pullara earns an A for An A Cappella Family. On his latest album, the prolific, award-winning children’s musician takes a more lighthearted approach following last year’s gun control-themed single “Flowers For My Friends” and 2018’s Kitty Cat Under My Wheelchair, an inspiring CD particularly for those with special needs. The concept behind Pullara’s latest album, as you might have guessed, is that it’s all a cappella music. The CD’s opener, “All Cooped Up,” sets the hand-clappin’, finger-snappin’ mood that carries through this lively10-song set. “Gum On My Shoe,” “Slurp It Up,” and “We Lost Our Car In The Parking Lot” are hugely kooky, but highly relatable, tracks. “Everything Comes From A Truck,” meanwhile, humorously informs youngsters about the many things that trucks deliver. Not every tune steers towards comedy. Pullara turns more serious on “All Shapes And Sizes,” an anthem for inclusiveness, while “Ti Amo Lullaby,” the album’s quietest tune (quite appropriately) offers a lovely little Italian lesson. Perhaps, the most impressive aspect of the delightful record is that you quickly forget that there aren’t any instruments.”
