Evaluation comments:
“This app is a nice starting point.”
“I like that you can set up profiles for multiple children.”
“It’s also nice that the app is on my phone so the kids can’t really walk away with it for long.”
“The voice options are pleasant and the app itself is fairly intuitive.”
“The main feature is just the voice function where you simply chat with the app. The flow starts off pretty smoothly, but if you ask questions too quickly it can jam it up a little and the app starts to lag a little. It catches up quickly if you give it a little break.”
“Besides the chat feature, you can also have the app draw and/or show you pictures. We found that this was sometimes inaccurate. Ella would ask for a picture of a dolphin and the app would pull up a whale.”
“Same thing with jellyfish and octopi. But when my daughter called it out, the app would admit it was the wrong photo and find the correct one.”
“With regard to the content, the app is fairly good at pivoting or changing the subject when sensitive topics are being discussed (e.g. how babies are made). Inappropriate language is never used and too much information is not given. The app is however very honest and when I tested it on whether the tooth fairy and Santa Claus are real, it basically admitted that they are fun make-believe stories.”
“I like the overall concept of keeping AI safe for kids.”
