Why we like it: The Secret Mountain has put together another marvelous Storybook/CD combo and this one impressively works on multiple levels. First, it is a picture book with a dozen “stories” that pair song lyrics with colorful illustrations. Then, there is the CD with Grammy winner Jennifer Gasoi singing the 12 original songs in 12 different musical styles. The book also has a section with informative explanations of each musical genre and each explanation also asks questions that are answered at the back of the book. A great book and a great CD, Blue And Red Make Purple makes for a great reading, listening and learning experience.
