Bucket of WOW! features Stephen Michael Schwartz’s exceptional ability to capture, in a song, the joys of life, the gratitude of living and a sincere understanding of a child’s perspective of the world around them. The sparkling melodies and clever wordplay of the well-crafted lyrics elevate the songs to great heights – but not so high that a child cannot reach up and take hold of their own bucket of wow.
Why we like it: Stephen Michael Schwartz fills Bucket of Wow with a full load of fine songs. Schwartz’s strength is his skill at writing joyful, upbeat music that is totally sincere and authentic. Listening to this CD, “I can’t help but grin,” to borrow one of his own lines. Over the past few years, Schwartz has performed frequently in China and his travels there are reflected in the lovely closing tune, “Sanctuary,” which is sung in both English and Chinese.
