Meet Chickapig, first launched as a grassroots board game in 2016 by game creator Brian Calhoun (of Rockbridge Guitar) and musician Dave Matthews. Due to the game’s original quirkiness, Chickapig now includes a children’s book, Little Joe Chickapig, a Chickapig plush toy and Chickapiglets, a new matching game of animal hybrids.
Break your flock of Chickapigs free while dodging opponents, hay bales and an unruly pooping cow in this strategic board game. Family-friendly game for 2 or 4 players. Works great with teams or as a party game. Takes 30 – 60 minutes to play and appeals to children and their parents to millennials who play games in a group.
Evaluation comments:
“It has a charming farm theme. The game-play instructions are simple, quick and easy to follow.”
“My husband and I enjoyed playing this game. He loves chess, and I’m not a big fan of the intensity – so this game was the perfect in-between for us. It pairs a chess-like strategy with a fun, lighthearted theme.”
“It was a lighthearted game that my husband and I enjoyed after we put our daughter to bed. It didn’t require a ton of thought… just enough strategy to get our brains working again after a day of baby talk! It was nice to turn the TV off and connect instead of zone out. It got us thinking we need to start having regular game nights.”
“My kids really like playing chess and the same type of strategy is needed for this game so I think that was what really drew them in to this one. They also thought the poop card was hilarious!!”
“Chickapiglets is a lot of fun for younger kids. They loved the matching game and the different type of animal hybrids. And again, like its counterpart…the pooping cow always wins them over. ”
“Chickapiglests is really a cute game and it teaches kids how to work together and share decisions on solving problems. “
