Duolingo ABC is a free app that teaches children ages 3–6 how to read. Developed by learning experts, the app includes over 300 fun, bite-sized lessons building on prior lessons and guidesg children on a step by step path to reading. Duolingo ABC is aligned with Common Core standards and is based on recommendations by the National Reading Panel.

“There is repetition in each activity to help the young child learn the concept. As the child goes through this program, they learn to read high-frequency sight words.”
“Parents are able to choose a level for their child- “beginner”, “knows some letters and sounds” or knows most letters and sounds.” They can also make general choices such as whether or not to have sound effects, speaking exercises, freehand writing and if they want practice reminders. I like that each activity is short, only a minute or two. The child is only able to move onto the next game after successfully finishing the one prior. After each game, the child can click on an arrow to go to the next one.”
