This cross-genre collection of songs grew out of Frances’ own explorations of San Francisco with her two sons. Produced with the help of Dean Jones and Dave Winer (of Justin Roberts’ band), songs like “City Don’t Sleep” and “Street Life” offer a shimmering sonic journey through the undiscovered everyday, and a reminder of the unexpected adventures that can happen when you keep your head up and let curiosity lead the way.
Why we like it: I’m a big fan of kids’ music that appeals to grown ups too. Frances England’s music is something I’d listen to WITHOUT the kids in the car. Her new album encourages all of us to pay attention to the world around us and look up from our phones and devices and experience life. Love the song, City of Hills, paying homage to the city in which she lives, San Francisco.
