Growing Up Great is an eleven song musical CD for children created during the pandemic. “Throughout her charming first children’s album, Miss Kim hits sweet spots for the pre-school set to enjoy. Full of joy-filled, bouncy tunes, this 11-track album basically is constructed around interactive fun ditties, little life lessons, or songs that weave together both styles. It’s easy to imagine little kids laughing, dancing, and making a bit of noise to tunes like “The Shaker Egg Song,” “The Run Song” and “The Kazoo Song.” Miss Kim serves up simple, universal messages, with a light touch, on “Be Kind, “If You Want To Be Great,” and “Thank You All Around World” (which emphasizes its global message by including how to say “thank you” in a variety of languages). Other up-tempo numbers, “The Nature Song” “Going On An Airplane” and “Little Things That Make Me Laugh,” also have their teaching moments, while providing opportunities for kids to play out the song lyrics too. Miss Kim wraps up her album with “Gentle Child,” a lovely tune more relatable to parents while also letting the littler listeners a chance to unwind after 30-some minutes of energetic, entertaining music.”
