Heartsongs of the Rainbow is created by a pediatric speech pathologist with the goal of uplifting, inspiring, nurturing and supporting those in the Special Needs Community. This album can also be enjoyed by all children. Each song allows children the opportunity to learn and demonstrate simple physical and gestural movements as well as to vocalize with repetitive, easy-to-make sounds. Targeted at young children with special needs who have a developmental age between 2-10 years old, Heartsongs of the Rainbow uses positive reinforcement to encourage children to move their mouths and strengthen vocal abilities through singing and helps children find their authentic voice through the magic of song.
Evaluation comments from our Music Judge:
“While this album’s seven songs may cover only around 25 minutes, they certainly contain many endearing qualities. Murphy’s friendly, warm vocals hold an expressiveness (a bit of old school folk and a touch of Broadway) that draws in young listeners’ attention. The songs, particularly tracks like “Everyone Can Sing,” “We Are One,” and “Friends For Life,” also have an uplifting spirit that is hard to resist. Perhaps the most significant aspect of this album, however, comes from the fact that Murphy is a speech therapist who works with children with special needs and, with this thoughtful album, she has created music that will be especially inspiring for them.”
