I Can Swing Forever by Tracy Newman

Tracy Newman sings and plays 18 original and cover songs for children.  The first half of the album is for playtime: catchy melodies, easy to follow lyrics and tunes that are fun to dance to.  The 2nd half is for bedtime, with slower-tempos and beautiful harmonies which gently ease children to sleep.

Why we like it: The Los Angeles-based musician doesn’t do anything fancy on this album; however, what she does do here is creating a wonderful CD of traditional children’s music. She divides the disc into a more uptempo “playtime” tunes and the more calming “bedtime” songs, and both are expertly done. As a nice bonus, there also is a lyric book/coloring book that accompanies the CD.
