Evaluation comments from our NAPPA Awards Music Judge:
“The mother-daughter duo Ruth Weber and Emilia Lopez-Yañez are back and so are their characters (Emilia and URR the alien) that you hopefully became acquainted with on their terrific last album, “The Spaceship That Fell in My Back Yard.” On their latest outing, they focus mainly on environment issues – and the result is just as fine. The duo is particularly skilled at telling an engaging story in their lyrics while delivering a message. “Like Magic” relates a caterpillar’s evolution into a butterfly and an egg hatching a bird – which actually are examples of the natural sciences and not magic. “The Food Chain,” meanwhile, touches on the importance of the links in the food chain. Ruth and Emilia also hit strong notes on several upbeat and uplifting tracks, like the soul-powered “Get On Up” and the nifty little rocker, “Little Kid With a Great Big Heart.” While the New Wave pop-y “Turn It Into Something New” addresses the virtues of recycling, this CD is one you will want to hold on to.”
