Let’s Go, Pistachio! is a country-style, humor-filled album with a special-edition googly-eyed cover. All 15 songs are originals, perfect for the preschool set, but written with parents in mind, with songs that encourage growth, good eating, patience, and celebrate potty training. While the album is mostly silly and fun, “She’s So Bright” is about female empowerment, staring a girl who shines despite her disability, and “I’m Proud of You” is a tender song Kelli’s mom used to sing.
Evaluation comments from our NAPPA Awards Music Judge:
“Well, well, well, Kelli Welli returns with the follow up her fine 2020 release, Ooh La La Too Doo Na Na Oop Bop Oop Bop Ribbit. Her latest album, Let’s Go, Pistachio, has a shorter title but still is packed with good-timing, twang-fringed tunes, ranging from the silly pirate-themed “The Hat Song” to the sweet “I’ll Be A Butterfly,” and ones that just plain nutty: “Peanut, “Pinenut” and the title track. Preschoolers will enjoy singing and dancing along with to “Jumping Beans,” “I Can’t Find My Appendix,” “The Smilers,” and “Kickin’ It With My Chicken.” The 15-track record also takes a light-hearted look at little ones growing up on “Tinkle Tinkle Toot” “I’m Growing Like A Stringbean,” and “Tonight I’ll Be Brushing One Less Tooth.” Kelli turns more serious on “She’s So Bright” (a song about female empowerment and dealing with disabilities) and sentimental on “I’m Proud of You” (a song her mother used to sing to her). “We’re Almost There” is the title of the charming closing tune; however, there’s no denying that Kelli Welli “is there” when it comes to entertaining the preschool set.”
