Exploring the bug and insect world is easy with the National Geographic Bug Habitat Kit! Catching bugs is simple with the included bug catcher, net, and tweezers. To observe the bugs they catch, kids can first add natural objects like dirt, sticks, and rocks to the habitat base to help the bug feel at home. Once the bug is caught and added to the habitat, kids can observe it from all angles. The lid includes two magnifiers–a large, stationary viewer to see details up close, and another that telescopes and moves to expand the field of view and observe bugs as they move around the habitat. A detailed Learning Guide is also included that’s filled with facts about bugs, insects, and spiders and how they live in the natural world.

“We have had a number of bug habitats over the years, and this one immediately sticks out in my mind as one of the better ones! This plastic habitat has a clear case, with a removable base allowing for more crevices for bugs to get into. It comes with a net, plastic tweezers, and a hard plastic clear bug catcher.”
“The thing that really sets this habitat apart from others we’ve had is the cap that has two magnifying glasses. The one that is really impressive and fun is that adjustable magnifying glass that is retractable and rotates 360 degrees.”
“I think this is a very nice quality habitat. The plastic is hard, thick, and very see-through. The magnifying glasses work great and allows you to have a great view into the habitat. I’m also impressed by the accessories, especially the bug catcher. This tong-like tool has a clear plastic bulb on the end, allowing you to pick up and view bugs easily. They also have a good seal…which feels important when picking up bugs.”
“The cap of the habitat is also sturdy, has well sealed clips, and a handle that allows for easy transportation.”
“My 7 year old’s favorite part is being able to catch bugs with the bug catcher then looking at them through the magnifying glasses.”
