Evaluation comments:
“Play In My Band is like a kids’ music-time class that you can play anywhere and anytime. An award-winning children’s music, Peasley immediately welcomes her audience – infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-Kers – on the buoyant opening number, “The Hello Song.” Early tracks, “Fun To Do” and the title tune, epitomize what this album is all about. Peasley delivers over 50 minutes of upbeat, singalong music that is consistently entertaining and consistently interactive. While tunes like “Dinosaur” and “Penguins” talk about their title creature, the former also is a running song, and the latter is a freeze tag-style dance track. Another dance-y tune, “The Shaker Song” is about kids playing with egg shakers while “Tap Your Sticks” teaches children about rhythm. Youngsters also can pretend to pick apples from a tree on “Apples, Apples” and crunch on leaves on “Falling From the Trees (The Leaf Song)”. The changing of seasons is a theme that flows through the album, from tracks like “Halloween Creatures” to “Bundle Up,” “The Turkey Run,” “Snowflake,” and “Spring Is In The Air.” A couple other highlights here are a pair of more “hands-on” numbers: “I’ve Got A Scarf In My Hand” and “In The Kitchen,” a cooking song with a lovely family message.”
