Evaluation comments from our NAPPA Awards Music Judge:
“With a title like this, you might get the impression that Kelli Welli goes heavy on comedy and techno music on her latest album. While Welli certainly delivers the humor here, the music is more twangy than techno as evidenced by the funny numbers like “Dognado,” the jaunty accordion tune “Ezra’s Frickle Song,” and “Stinky Shoes,” which winds up like a punky polka. Speaking of numbers, if you’re a fan of the number five, you’ll enjoy the two tunes: “Five Little Frogs” and “Five Little Ducks.” Young mathletes will also go for the zippy “The Multiplication Song.” What really got to me – and undoubtedly other parents too – are the sweet songs about parents and their little ones. Standing out, in particular, are “All Ways Together Always” and “I Will Miss You,” which touch on children growing up. Impressive too is the “Tree Song,” where Welli subtly sings silly, interactive lyrics to what otherwise sounds like an old English folk ballad. Similarly, she strikes a wonderful balance of message and music on her magical title track. And I’m not going to give away the robot’s joke – listen to the album for yourself; it’s well worth it.”
