The hardbound book features whimsical, dream-like illustrations by Élodie Nouhen and brief explanatory notes describing how each piece was composed and how it was arranged for this recording. The accompanying CD, recorded in France with the acclaimed wind and harp quintet Ensemble Agora, features 16 soft and sweet masterpieces.
Why we like it: There are some very commendable qualities to this Secret Mountain Storybook/Music CD. The CD features a good set of classic music that is appealingly performed. The storybook offers some interesting description of the pieces and the composers. However, it doesn’t really come together in a way that would really engage youngsters; it seems like a work that interest parents more.
