Ever since The Beatles took the U. S. by storm in the early ’60s, there has been a healthy tradition of musical collaboration between American and British artists. Now, for the first time, the world of family music follows suit. Three-time GRAMMY® Nominee BRADY RYMER and UK BBC Folk Award Nominee DAVID GIBB present a transatlantic collaborative family album, Songs Across the Pond, about making new friends, sharing unexpected discoveries and creating joyful music together!
Evaluation comments from our NAPPA Awards Music Judge:
“This transatlantic alliance, pairing of the acclaimed American kids musician Brady Rymer and standout UK family music maker David Gibbs, results in a thoroughly triumphant partnership. Rymer and Gibb’s different homelands provide good songwriting material, as exemplified by the title track, the evocative and entertaining “Two Towns,” and the highly humorous “You Say This, I Say That.” The two musicians connect over their shared love for hooky, sunny 60s-flavored rock ‘n’ roll. For example, there is “Living In The Beatles Song,” which will be a hit with kids, parents, and grandparents. More cross-generational love will be generated by Rymer and Gibb’s covers of Sam Cooke’s “Twisting The Night Away” and Cat Stevens’ “If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out.” Meanwhile, the lovely, gentle “Happy To Be Going Home,” which closes the 11-track set, will leave listeners wearing big smiles on their faces. This wonderful first collaboration between these two talented and very musically compatible performers kindles wishes for them for them to rendezvous soon for a second edition.
