From our NAPPA Awards Music Judge:
“Curriculum Rocks is composed of two sisters who want to provide educational, entertaining music for parents, teachers and young children – and they certainly succeed in their mission on The Power of Yet. Aimed for early elementary schoolers and pre-schoolers, the ten upbeat and aspirational tunes tackle topics like perseverance and hard work, positive thinking, facing fears and doubts, and acting kindly. To further convey their messages clearly to younger listeners, the songs are kept in the simple side; however, there are some nice little instrumental flourishes throughout, such the saxophone bursts on “Face My Fears,” the electric guitar edge to “Yes, And,” and the twangy vibe to “Fill A Bucket Filler.” Tracks 11-20, which are basically instrumental backing tracks of the first 10 tunes, probably serve educational purposes mainly, but families conceivably can create sing-alongs with these tracks. Curriculum Rocks does earn extra points for deftly using (and explaining) the term “neuroplasticity” in a song about brain power.”
