“This Is Our Time,” by Sir Dapp & The Paw Prints, embraces meaningful messages for kids about self-image, kindness and respect, and the power of words while providing toe-tapping, dance-worthy fun! The album incorporates multiple music genres the whole family will enjoy. The real-life singers on the album are Eli Jacobson (“Sir Dapp”), of NBC’s “Sing-Off” and the popular acapella group VoicePlay, and Rachel Potter (“The Dollie”), of Broadway and Nashville’s Steel Union band.
From our Music Judge:
“It’s hard not to like a CD with a song about the solar system that makes a sweet reference to Milky Way candy bars. Young listeners (particularly preschoolers to early elementary schoolers) will enjoy the bright, upbeat tunes populating This Is Our Time. Sir Dapp! & The Paw Prints nicely utilize easily-to-grasp imagery to deliver their positive messages. The song, “Parachute,” for example, recommends that we “rise above the words that hurt,” while “Rainbows” offers lessons on both colors and friendships. The virtues of kindness and respect are addressed in two different tunes, which verges on over-doing this worthwhile message. This might be because the songs go with videos found on the Sir Dapp! & The Paw Prints’ app & website. The CD’s vocalists, Eli Jacobson and Rachel Potter, impress throughout and the music is consistently catchy, although the occasional use of a saxophone reminds that more expansive arrangements could bring more color to the music.”
