Under the Big Umbrella is sure to be a family favorite! Three-time GRAMMY nominees Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could, have released their 10th studio album. This is a music-filled place where individuality is celebrated and kindness wins the day. Inspired by and written with students, teachers and families and enriched by a handful of classic pop songs that underscore the message, Rymer’s vibrant and colorful album is his most ambitious yet, a collection of 12 new songs full of hope for a future with “room for everyone.” As one educator says, Rymer “gives us the tools to help our students, of all abilities and backgrounds, understand, accept and truly enjoy one another.”
From our music judge:
“Brady Rymer is almost too good to be true. He is a good songwriter, a good musician and a good-hearted soul too. All of his goodness is evident on his latest album. Under The Big Umbrella delivers an uplifting celebration to the culture of kindness. Rymer wraps his messages of compassion and inclusive in wonderfully catchy melodies that will get kids and parents dancing. “Drop In The Bucket” and “Different Is Beautiful (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah)” really rock out, while “Stick Up Stand Up” projects an early ‘60s R&B vibe. It’s hard not to break out in a smile listening to tunes like the title track, “Thank You For Being You,” and, yes, “The Smile Shop.” The CD also features some thematically appropriate covers (“You Can Get It If You Really Want,” “I’m Coming Out,” “A Little Help From My Friends”). Particularly standing out is his collaboration with Sonia De Los Santos on Woody Guthrie’s “Don’t You Push Me Down.” Rymer’s arrangement exudes a Cajun flavor while De Los Santos sings in Spanish, making the song represent a coming together of cultures. There is so much good stuff here that it makes Big Umbrella quite a great album.”
