While their past few releases have been geographically inspired (Mississippi River, Appalachian Trail, and the far west), the duo’s new Winterland, naturally, is inspired by winter. This CD, however, isn’t a holiday album, but the music does celebrate the joys of snow and other wonderful wintery things. “Ukulele in a Snowstorm” is just as delightful as it sounds, and you can make the fun discovery of what a “Slumberjack” is too. The high-spirited live track “North Country Dance Band” is another stand-out and makes you hope that there’s an Okee Dokee live album down the road.
